Scottish firms are already starting to make preparations to attend the world’s top oil and gas show.
The countdown is well and truly on for the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), a four-day event which kicks off in the US oil capital of Houston on Monday, May 5.
More than 90,000 people from all around the planet are expected to attend next year’s event and, as usual, there will be a big Scottish presence.
Aberdeen-based Munro’s Travel and the Press and Journal are organising their regular visit to OTC – a long- existing tie-up which dates back to 1973.
Every year, Munro’s arranges flights and accommodation for about 400 delegates to the show and 2014 will be no different.
Managing partner Murray Burnett said it was already shaping up to be as busy as previous events.
He said: “The North Sea oil industry continues to be very buoyant and OTC gives our delegates the chance to see the latest equipment on offer, hear fresh industry news and also make valuable new contacts from around the world.
“Our regular delegates – who include oil industry leaders, bankers, lawyers and accountants – also value the excellent networking opportunities with each other our trip offers.
“Many an idea for a new business venture has been hatched at one of our receptions.
“We have only just begun to send out brochures for the trip to our regular delegates and bookings are already starting to come in.
“We have 300 rooms allocated at our delegation’s HQ hotel, the Hilton Houston Post Oak, and, as in previous years, we expect to sell out well in advance.”
Munro’s recently picked up a top industry award for the second time in just three years.
The company was named best Scottish independent business travel agent.
The honour for the company came at the 21st annual Scottish Passenger Agents’ Association travel awards, at a ceremony in Glasgow.
