Police have named a man who was killed in a three-vehicle crash involving a Royal Mail van in the northern isles yesterday.
Geordie Chalmers had been travelling on the A965 Kirkwall-Stromness road near the village of Finstown when the tragic accident happened.
The 84-year-old lived at Sandwick, Stromness.
His female passenger was taken to the Balfour Hospital.
A blue Vauxhall Astra Agila and a pick-up truck were also involved in the smash.
It is believed the Royal Mail van had just finished making deliveries in the area when the accident happened.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Blue Vauxhall travelling between Kirkwall and Finstown to contact the force on 101.
