Ross County are on the verge of signing Greek defender Evangelos Oikonomou again and Manchester City goalkeeper Eirik Johansen on-loan as the transfer window opens tomorrow.
Neither left-back Oikonomou, 26, who spent six months with the Staggies last season, or 6ft 7in Norwegian Johansen, 21, are expected to play in the Highland derby.
County manager Derek Adams is determined to bring in more new players with Cardiff City’s Slovakian midfielder Filip Kiss still on his radar.
He said: “Evangelos Oikonomou re-signing for us is a very good possibility and we are close to signing Eirik Johansen from Manchester City on loan for the rest of the season.
“Oikonomou will be with us for the rest of the season as well all going well.
“It is just the paperwork we need to sort out with both players and we are still looking to add further to the squad because we are depleted.
“Johansen is a player who comes highly recommended to us.
“We will try to add more players from England. We are looking at Filip Kiss but there is a problem there as Cardiff City have just lost their manager.
“Attacking-wise, we are looking at various options. We are looking all over, just to help the players who are here. We are down to 19 players just now and are a bit thin on the ground. We have a young squad. We need a wee bit of help.”
County are without a league win since early October and Adams hopes it will finally come against their Highland rivals in Inverness tomorrow.
He said: “We want to try to cause Inverness more problems than we caused Aberdeen (in losing 1-0 on Sunday). The players are working hard. We are just lacking a bit of quality at times. It is not a nice feeling but we just have to take it on the chin and move on.
“The players are working really hard. We need to get that goal, and win, to move us forward. It would be fantastic if we were able to do it in the derby but Inverness have had a very good start to the season.
“They are big favourites. We just have to take the positives from our defensive displays. Now we need to try to add to the attacking side.”
Defender Steven Saunders is a doubt after he was sick on the pitch at Pittodrie and had to be withdrawn after half-time.
Right-back Mihael Kovacevic is on compassionate leave as his father is ill in Switzerland.
