Notts County attacker Yoann Arquin is training with Ross County as the Staggies close on a loan deal for Slovak midfielder Filip Kiss.
The 25-year-old French forward could move north on loan after falling out of favour with manager Shaun Derry at the English League 1 club.
Arquin is contracted to the Meadow Lane club for the rest of the season after netting four times in 18 appearances this term, including a goal in a 4-2 League Cup defeat against Liverpool at Anfield last August although the Le Harve-born forward has not played for County since November.
Cardiff City’s Kiss, meanwhile, is much closer to joining the Staggies for the remainder of the campaign.
The 23-year-old could be included in the squad to face Partick Thistle on Saturday once County obtain international clearance.
Kiss will be the fourth signing in the January transfer window for the Victoria Park club after Greek defender Evangelos Oikonomou, midfielder Michael Tidser and forward Jordan Slew.
After the departures of Grant Munro, Ivan Spoule and Orhan Mustafi, County still have room for new recruits and Adams said: “We are waiting on the paperwork coming through from Cardiff, nothing has been completed with Filip Kiss yet.
“He has been with us for a while now, but I don’t know when it will be done.”
The 38-year-old added: “Yoann is also training with us, he is having a look at us and we are having a look at him as well.
“He has been up for a few days and is a player we have had a look at before.
“He has a good pedigree, he has been training with us and we will see how it goes although I would not think we will have anyone else in before the weekend.”
Aberdeen goalkeeper Nicky Weaver has signed a new contract to keep him at Pittodrie until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old, who previously played for Manchester City, Charlton Athletic, Dundee United and Sheffield Wednesday, has made two appearances since joining the club in the summer on a short-term contract. While Weaver prolongs his stay at Pittodrie, one player heading out on a temporary basis is 18-year-old Lawrence Shankland. The forward is poised to join Dunfermline on loan until the end of the season and could be available to face Stranraer on Saturday if the paperwork is finalised.
