A man found dead in the hallway of a block of Aberdeen flats has been named by police.
David Clark, 29, was discovered in the lobby of the Charlotte Street property early on New Year’s Day.
Paramedics were called to the scene at about 9am and raised the alarm with police, who launched an inquiry and sealed off the block.
Throughout the day, forensics officers wearing white suits could be seen going in and out of the flats while a police constable stood guard at the garden gate.
There was no reply at any of the flats yesterday, although one doorway had been boarded up.
Yesterday police confirmed they were not treating Mr Clark’s death as suspicious. A spokesman said: “There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
He added that Mr Clark’s family had been notified.
As news of the tragedy began to spread yesterday several messages of support were posted online.
One woman said: “Thoughts are with his heartbroken Mum, RIP David.”
And another posted: “RIP David, still can’t believe it. Thoughts to all his family xx”.
Local councillors said Mr Clark’s death marked a tragic start to the year, and their thoughts were with his family. George Street councillor Andrew May said: “This is an unhappy situation and it seems to have a particular poignancy at this time of year.”
