The 64-year-old man is believed to have fallen from a ladder aboard TAQA’s Eider platform, 112 miles north-east of Shetland, at 10pm. He was brought ashore by the Shetland coastguard helicopter and taken to Gilbert Bain hospital in Lerwick. A spokeswoman for the oil company said she understood the man had been taken to hospital “as a precaution” and was not seriously injured.
