Inverness defender David Raven hopes Caley Thistle can hold on to in-form forward Billy McKay during the January transfer window.
Northern Ireland international McKay has netted 15 times in 19 games this season and is well on his way to emulating his heroics of the last campaign in which he scored 26 times.
Raven feels McKay is one of the most clinical finishers in the Premiership, although he says modest McKay, who scored both goals in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Hearts, has not allowed the success on the pitch to go to his head.
Raven said: “Billy is one of the quieter lads. If you came into the dressing-room you would think it is one of the other lads who was the top scorer.
“He keeps his feet firmly on the ground and that is why he is doing so well. He is a special talent and showed that again at Hearts. I hope we can keep hold of him. I don’t think there are many better forwards in Scotland.”
Raven, who began his career at Liverpool and previously played for Tranmere Rovers, Shrewsbury Town and Carlisle United, believes the camaraderie in the Caley Jags dressing-room is the best he has experienced and has been a major factor in helping the team to second place.
Raven hopes prolific McKay won’t take flight through window
