A north-east car dealership has handed over thousands of pounds to a cancer charity.
I&K Motors, of Inverurie, has raised more than £60,000 for Clan Cancer Support.
The company chose Clan as its nominated charity for 2013 because both were celebrating their 30th anniversaries.
A year-long programme of events was organised to mark the milestone, including a Burns Supper at Inverurie Town Hall, a corporate golf event at Meldrum House, a ladies’ lunch at the Kintore Arms Hotel and an anniversary dinner at Lochter.
The company even asked any customers who bought a car if they would like to donate to the cause – which I&K then matched.
The company has also presented Clan with a special registration plate to mark the anniversary.
CC11 AAN will take pride of place on the charity’s minibus, which is used to transport people staying at the Haven accommodation facility to and from hospital for appointments and treatment.
I&K Motors managing director Steve Innes said the company was “delighted” to offer its support to a charity that touched the lives of so many people in the north-east.
“It’s been a celebratory year for both of us, and the enthusiasm and drive to raise funds for the charity has been there in abundance across our entire workforce and with our customers.
“We have a very loyal customer base and they have also proved very generous after we offered every person who bought a car from us this year the chance to make a donation towards the charity, which we matched.
“I’d like to offer my sincere gratitude to all those who have helped make this fundraising effort such a rewarding success.”
Clan fundraising manager Susan Crighton said: “The support from Steve Innes and his team at I&K has really bowled us over. The total they have raised is most definitely beyond our wildest expectations.
“The number plate will be a lovely keepsake of what has been a fabulous year for Clan in which so many people have come together to help mark our special birthday.”
