Michael Hector signed off for Aberdeen by playing his part in the 1-0 win against Kilmarnock yesterday but the Reading defender has not given up hope of returning to help the Dons to a cup final.
The 21-year-old’s loan is over but Hector will hold talks with Reading manager Nigel Adkins tomorrow about the possibility of returning to Pittodrie for the remainder of the season.
Injuries to defenders at the English Championship club may mean Hector’s wish of a return to the Dons is dashed.
But the player has not given up hope of being part of an Aberdeen squad which has plenty to look forward to in the second half of the campaign.
He said: “It could be a very good season for Aberdeen. We are still in both cups and we are now second in the league.
“I think we can keep that going and maybe win trophies, especially if the manager can keep the squad together in the transfer window.
“I want to be part of it. I don’t want to miss out on playing in a League Cup semi-final.
“I will be disappointed if I am not a part of it but it is not down to me. If it was then I would be signed on early doors.”
