A MAN was feared abducted last night after a vicious brawl in an Aberdeen housing scheme.
Residents watched in terror as the victim was dragged out of his van and beaten up by a masked gang.
One witness said it was like a scene from a horror film.
Last night, detectives were trying to find the assault victim amid fears that he had been abducted by his attackers.
Witnesses described how a group of people pounced on the man after the white Transit van in which he was travelling was forced off Provost Fraser Drive and into a lamp post about 3pm.
One resident, who watched events unfold from an upstairs window, described hearing the screech of brakes.
He looked out and saw a Subaru Impreza car “putting a white Transit van off the road”.
The horrified witness, who asked not to be named, said: “One of the occupants of the van was standing in the middle of Provost Fraser Drive, waving a baseball bat.
“Within seconds, he was surrounded by four or five guys, who had jumped out the Subaru, all of them wearing scarves, or hoodies, to cover their faces.
“Some were carrying hammers, others baseball bats. They set about their victim. He did not stand a chance.”
The onlooker said another occupant of the van fled the scene as the beating continued.
“A few attackers then ran towards a Jaguar car, which was sitting along the road with a door open, and got in before it sped away,” he said.
“The chap who had been attacked tried to stand up, but he was grabbed and hauled back into the Subaru, which took off along Upper Mastrick Way.
“Everyone has been talking about it around here. It seemed to have been planned.”
He said locals believed the incident was part of an internal family feud.
Another resident said it was like watching a scene from a horror film as neighbours saw the victim being dragged into one of the attackers’ cars.
“I heard an incredible amount of noise and screaming so looked out my window,” he said.
“There was a group of guys attacking a man on the street.
“He was bundled into one of their cars and they drove off.
“It was like a horror film. You don’t expect something like this to happen 100 yards from your own home.”
Last night, police confirmed there had been a “disturbance” in the Mastrick area and said they had yet to track down the victim of the attack.
Inspector Colin Taylor, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are continuing to work to establish the circumstances of what took place here today and our priority at the moment is to ensure that everyone involved is safe and well.”
