An Aberdeen bar and nightclub has been forced to close its doors for about a week due to water damage caused by a burst pipe.
Bosses at the Priory on Belmont Street said extensive flooding between the top floor and ground floor was discovered by staff on Saturday morning.
The incident resulted in electrical failure, a loss of “essential” equipment and damage to the city-centre building. Part of the ceiling collapsed to the rear of the property.
General manager Gary Noble said the venue, which is owned and operated by the Epic Group (Scotland) Ltd, would remain closed until repairs were carried out.
Mr Noble said the temporary closure would also allow for some improvements to be made to the interior of the building.
He said: “We will work hard to get it open as quickly as we can, but we will be doing a bit of refurbishment internally.
“We are planning to create a karaoke room downstairs, but we are normally open seven days a week, so there is little opportunity to get any work done.”
Mr Noble said he could not divulge the cost of the repair work.
The Epic Group also operates the Pearl Lounge on Dee Street, the Monkey House at the corner of Union Street and Union Terrace and Prohibition Bar on Langstane Place.
