Police have described a brutal attack which left a nightclub singer scarred for life as “despicable”.
Officers spoke out after June McIntosh and John Fisher were convicted of viciously assaulting Andy Layton James.
He was set upon in his own home in the quiet Moray fishing village of Findochty.
McIntosh, of Buckie, and Fisher, of Wishaw, were found guilty of assaulting Mr Layton James to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement after a trial at Elgin Sheriff Court.
Jurors found the case against Fisher’s brother Alexander, of Airdrie, not proven.
Fisher and McIntosh are due to return to court for sentence on January 30.
They were both released on bail following the guilty verdicts.
Mr Layton James was taken to hospital after the terrifying attack at his former home in Findochty’s Reidhaven Crescent.
He managed to run out the back door and get help from a neighbour before being taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin for treatment.
Mr Layton James, a professional singer, is well known for his lively performances at venues across the north-east and beyond.
He has also appeared on several TV shows, performed for celebrities, including Vinnie Jones, Gillian Taylforth, and Paul Gascoigne, and has even taken part in a week-long stint in West End musical 125th Street.
Yesterday, he declined to comment on the case.
However, Detective Sergeant Neil Campbell, said: “This was a targeted and nasty assault on an individual who was simply going about their own business and we welcome the conviction of John Fisher and June McIntosh who must now pay for their part in this despicable incident.
“Incidents like this are rare in the Moray area and I would like to thank the communities of Findochty, Portknockie and Buckie for their assistance with our investigation, which has resulted in these convictions.
“We will not tolerate violence in our communities and we will continue to work with the public to keep them safe.”
