A teenager was critically injured after his car overturned and left the road on the outskirts of Aberdeen last night.
The 19-year-old’s car overturned, left the road, and ended up on its roof just off the main A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road.
He was driving a silver Volkswagen Golf which ended up on the grass verge several yards away from the main carriageway.
Fire and rescue personnel used cutting equipment to release the casualty, who was trapped in the car after the crash.
It happened around 10.10pm on the Findon slip road off the A90 and police initially closed a section of the inside lane southbound.
By 11pm the decision was made to close both lanes as accident investigators began working at the scene, with two floodlights set up beside the badly damaged car.
Photographs and measurements were taken over a large area surrounding the spot where the car had come to rest.
Several police vehicles were deployed to block all approach roads to the A90, as well as diverting traffic off the road.
Diversions were set up via the Marywell interchange with the closure expected to last for several hours.
Two units from Altens, and one from North Anderson Drive Fire Station, had been mobilised to the scene and remained there for around an hour.
Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101.
