Two north-east firms have joined forces to spread some Christmas cheer for a local children’s charity.
Property development and commercial leasing company Waterloo Quay Properties and one of its tenants, North Atlantic Drilling, are participating in Befriend a Child’s Christmas Giving Tree campaign this festive season.
Waterloo Quay Properties, which is based at the city’s harbour side, has put up and decorated a large Christmas tree in its reception area, kindly donated by its client, North Atlantic Drilling. The Christmas tree is decorated with specially designed gift tags, which employees, tenants and visitors can select to provide Christmas gifts or a monetary donation towards a present for the charity.
Befriend a Child is a independent charity, which provides a one-to-one befriending service for vulnerable and underprivileged local children aged 4-16 in Aberdeen and the surrounding area. The Christmas Giving Tree scheme enables the charity to ensure that every single child it supports receives some presents at Christmas time.
Managing director at Waterloo Quay Properties, Anna-Marie Eardley, said: “We are truly delighted to be working with our tenant, North Atlantic Drilling, on this special Christmas campaign for Befriend a Child. Although Christmas is a magical time, it can be hard for those less fortunate, so it is great that we can support children in Aberdeen and ensure they receive a gift to enjoy over the festive period.”
Development and resources manager at Befriend a Child, Lana Bambridge, said: “For many of the children we support, the gifts received through our Giving Tree may be the only presents they receive this Christmas. With the support of local organisations like Waterloo Quay Properties and North Atlantic Drilling, we are able to provide a memorable Christmas to some of Aberdeen’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, and we are extremely grateful.”
