Caley Thistle manager John Hughes is not content with steering the Highland club into the League Cup final and has targeted a place in the Scottish Cup final as well.
Inverness make the epic trip to Stair Park to face League 1 club Stranraer in the fifth round tomorrow, with defender Josh Meekings and captain Richie Foran in the squad.
Centre back Meekings, 21, was sent off in the League Cup semi-final against Hearts but has been cleared to play in the final after the SFA yesterday reduced the red card to yellow on appeal.
Foran is also set to feature at Stair Park after making a successful recovery from a shoulder injury sustained last December.
Hughes said: “We want to get into the final of the Scottish Cup. Getting into the other cup final gives us the confidence and momentum to do it.
“With a little bit of luck in the draw, and if we can get through Stranraer, hopefully that can be the case. The players have been well warned that when you are on a big high and on cloud nine, football has a real habit of bringing you right back down to earth.
“It could happen to us on Saturday if we don’t have 100% concentration and go into the game with a professional attitude.
“We have pointed out Stranraer beat Ross County in the League Cup and the dimensions of the pitch.”
Hughes believes justice was done after Meekings was given a reprieve to play against Aberdeen in the League Cup final on Sunday, March 16.
He said: “We are glad the appeal against Josh’s red card was overturned. All credit to the referee. I spoke to him (John Beaton) after the game and he seemed a lovely enough man.
“He was sent off for violent conduct and it was not the worst tackle in the match. It was a deliberate trip but there was no violence in it. He was never going to hurt the Hearts player. It is great we have him back for the cup tie this weekend and the cup final.
“Richie is back in the squad and he will be on the bench at Stranraer. Hopefully, he can get some part of the match.
“He was not too far away last week. He declared himself ready to go last week and then had a rethink.
“He thought he was maybe thinking of himself too much, which shows the type of guy he is, always thinking about other people. I hope he has the opportunity to play in a cup final now.”
