Amonument of a lone Gordon Highlander looks over the town, known locally as the heart of the Garioch.
It sits between the River Don and the River Ury with the Bennachie hill range providing the perfect backdrop.
And its town centre is dominated by the grand Town Hall built in 1862.
This is Inverurie, which has become one of the fastest-growing towns in Aberdeenshire over the past few years.
Located in the valley of the River Don at the centre of Aberdeenshire, it is a great place for families to live while still being able to commute to the Granite City.
With new housing developments, supermarkets and a new retail park, it’s little wonder more and more people are making the move to the town.
The latest addition to the town will be a new £1.7million family resource centre, situated in Victoria Street, which aims to improve the lives of youngsters in the north-east.
The new centre will add to the already wide-ranging facilities the town has including primary schools, a secondary school, hotels, health centre, swimming pool, sports centre, library and golf course. It is situated around 17 miles from Aberdeen and is well-served by road and rail links making it an ideal commuting base.
While many may still go into Aberdeen for shopping and recreational purposes, Inverurie really is a town that has it all.
There is a plethora of shops and restaurants with the main shopping areas including the Market Place and West High Street to suit all tastes.
Inverurie also boasts a range of events in its social calendar including the popular panto and the Royal Northern Spring Show.
One of the town’s best assets, however, is its beautiful landscapes and views.
The area is the perfect place for a leisurely walk, with forest paths at Keith Hall, river walks along the banks of the Ury and Don and, for the more energetic, hill walks at Bennachie.
Many historic standing stones, stone circles, Pictish burial sites and, of course, castles are within walking distance or a short drive from the area.
For fishing enthusiasts, there is angling on the rivers Don and Ury, and a range of indoor and outdoor activities, including bowling and clay-pigeon shooting.
Surrounding Inverurie is a host of villages that would be perfect for a family trying to find a home in the countryside.
Kintore is a five minute drive from Inverurie and is a popular spot thanks to its close proximity to the industrial estates at Dyce and Bridge of Don as well as Aberdeen city centre.
It is a quiet rural village with an excellent community spirit and has a number of amenities, including a primary school, a selection of shops, post office, church, library, two hotels and a coffee shop.
Sitting five miles south-west of Inverurie, Kemnay boasts two primary schools and one secondary school.
The River Don running through the village is an attractive feature while Fetternear Estate is a great place for walks for dogs and family days out.
It has a popular golf course with a clubhouse which has a packed series of social events throughout the year.
Other highlights include an outdoor gym at Bogbeth Park and the Place of Origin, which overlooks Kemnay Quarry and also gives views of the entire village and out to the surrounding hills including Bennachie.
