Police have launched an investigation after staff at Aberdeen Football Club received malicious threats in the post.
The staff were so shocked by the content of a letter that detectives were called to Pittodrie immediately.
The content of the letter was deemed too sinister to put down to a prank by an unhappy fan.
Police Scotland confirmed last night that it was investigating the threats, which were reported on Thursday.
A spokesman for AFC refused to comment.
It comes after an investigation was launched into allegations of abuse directed at Celtic manager Neil Lennon during last Saturday’s League Cup semi-final between the Dons and St Johnstone.
Mr Lennon left Tynecastle Park in Edinburgh after supporters allegedly spat and hurled coins at him.
He has since urged police to find the fans responsible and hinted that it could drive him out of the game in Scotland.
He said: “There’s an ongoing investigation, so I’ll be speaking to the fiscal representatives. But it’s getting harder to comprehend because I don’t think I’ve done anything to warrant it.
“I think my players, myself and my backroom team all conduct ourselves in the best way.”
Dons officials have said that if any individuals are found to have spat at Mr Lennon, the club will seek to have them banned from matches. A spokesman said: “It would appear that a tiny minority within the main stand behaved in a manner that is completely unacceptable and has no place in football, and we would urge anyone who has information as to the identity of those responsible to get in touch with the club in order that appropriate action can be taken.”
