The Black and Golds have yet to play a game under new manager Gregg Carrol and Buchan knows the new man in charge will be eager to get off to a winning start to his tenure when Huntly travel to Harlaw Park.
Buchan said: “It will be interesting as Huntly didn’t have a game last weekend and they will be looking to impress their new manager.
“It is a big game for both teams, and we will be doing everything we can to try to get to a cup final.
“We want to be in finals and we want to be up there challenging at the top of the league. We have done it so far but there is still some work to do.
“We will have to regroup after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat against Brora Rangers, but we will deal with that and hopefully we can get through to the final.”
Locos will be without the suspended Kieran Adams, his central defensive partner, Ryan Broadhurst, is set to miss out through work commitments while forward Jordan Leyden is ineligible as he was already cup-tied by his former club, Cove Rangers.
Following the postponement of his first two games since being appointed as Dave McGinlay’s successor, Carrol is eager to get his Christie Park tenure started. He said: “I can’t wait to get going. We had a really good training session on Saturday after our game at Formartine was postponed.
“It was good to get to work with the players. I really enjoyed it although I am still learning their names and obviously they have still to get to know me and how I work.
“But even at training I could see the enthusiasm and desire I am looking for was there.
“It is a one-off cup-tie, semi-finals are even harder than finals these days. It’s a great game to start with.”
