An Aberdeen solicitor and performer will take on a new role at the heart of the city’s cultural scene.
Craig Pike has been appointed chief executive of Aberdeen Performing Arts, and will take over when the current chairman Dr Graeme Roberts steps down.
Mr Pike, a well-known member of The Flying Pigs comedy group, said he was delighted and honoured to take up the post. He said: “I am very much looking forward to working with my colleague board members and the whole APA team to build on the many successes to date for the organisation.
“In doing so, I must acknowledge the leadership and commitment of our current chairman.
“Graeme has been unstinting in his dedication to the role for the past 10 years.
“I will be coming into the role at an extremely busy time, with the team having just completed a detailed five-year plan, launched a very successful series of A Play, A Pie and A Pint, as well as being on the brink of a major redevelopment of our beloved Music Hall.”
Mr Pike, a solicitor with Ledingham Chalmers LLP, has been involved in the performing arts in the north-east for about 20 years.
He began his involvement with the Aberdeen student show and has worked on shows for APA, such as the Lord Provost’s Variety Show and the Fiddlers Spectacular. He also performed regularly with the late Stephen Robertson of Scotland the What?
Dr Roberts has been at the helm of APA since it was set up in 2002 to operate HM Theatre and the Music Hall. He will reach the end of his term of office in November.
