Staggies seeking a Dingwall hat-trick

Staggies seeking a Dingwall hat-trick

Ross County midfielder Michael Tidser believes finding consistency in a three-game home stretch will be crucial as the Staggies aim to move away from the bottom of the Premiership.

County almost snatched a draw with Hibs at Easter Road at the weekend but, despite Richard Brittain’s second-half goal, they could not recover after Sam Stanton and Tom Taiwo had netted for the hosts in the opening 25 minutes.

County will not leave Dingwall until next month, with St Mirren, Highland rivals Caley Thistle and Partick Thistle heading to Victoria Park for the next three fixtures.

Tidser, 24, believes the Staggies must capitalise on the opportunity to climb the table.

He said: “There are a lot of games still to play for us to avoid that play-off place. All the teams can beat each other. We have just got to hope we can pick up as many points as possible until the split and take it from there.

“I am one of the new players and I am surprised at how quickly we have gelled but we have to win games.

“We were beaten by Hearts a couple of weeks ago and we have lost again. There is no point in dwelling on it too much, otherwise we will take it into next week as well and it is a big game against St Mirren.

“As Partick Thistle and St Mirren lost, and I know it sounds terrible, it meant it was not the worst day for us.

“The flip side was it was a chance to take us further away from them.”

The on-loan Rotherham United midfielder felt the Staggies did enough to earn a point on the road at Hibs.

He said: “If we had scored again it would have been a fair result. In the second half we created a lot of chances but conceded soft goals to be 2-0 down.

“We did well in the second half but just could not get the second goal. If you get the first goal there, with the way the fans are just now and they have been struggling, the game changes.

“Even at 2-1 the Hibs supporters were getting a bit restless. We could have equalised and then you never know what might happen.”
