Asda supermarket workers across Scotland will share in a bonus windfall of £4.5million.
The US-owned retailer employs more than 20,000 people at 58 stores and depots in the country.
Today, 15,500 workers who have more than six months of service at the store will receive their annual bonus in recognition of the supermarket chain’s performance.
Full-time employees who work across the retailer’s Scottish network will receive a cash boost of up to £320 each under its performance-related scheme.
Hayley Tatum, executive people director of Asda, said: “With bonus being directly linked to store performance, it is a true measure of the resilience of our colleagues during challenging economic times that they continue to help us build a better, stronger business.”
This is the 13th consecutive year that the retailer has given bonus payouts to its workers. The scheme was launched in 2001 with the aim of rewarding employees for their hard work.
If workers exceed their annual target, they are awarded a “superbonus” – which has been given this year to employees of Asda’s Forfar store, who will each receive up to £480.
