An emergency diversion route is on high alert ready to be put into action after heavy rain in Argyll sparked landslide fears.
Monitoring of the A83 Tarbet to Campbeltown road at the Rest and Be Thankful landslide blackspot triggered an emergency response plan.
A spokesman for Bear Scotland, road maintenance company, said: “Monitoring at the A83 Rest and Be Thankful has highlighted dirty water flowing from the hillside which is causing some concern. In line with the agreed A83 Rest and Be Thankful response plan this has triggered Level 3 height of readiness.
“Traffic management has been placed along the local diversion route (Old Military Road) at the A83 Rest and Be Thankful should it require to be implemented, although the A83 remains open in both directions.
“The situation will be reviewed again at first light.
“Operational teams are on standby should any issue arise through the night and throughout the period of forecast inclement weather.”
