Ross County midfielder Filip Kiss was surprised Jim Goodwin escaped an SFA charge after the St Mirren defender floored him during County’s 2-1 win at Dingwall on Saturday.
Staggies manager Derek Adams and Buddies counterpart Danny Lennon will head to Hampden to answer charges after the pair were involved in a heated touchline tussle when Goodwin and Dutchman Melvin de Leeuw were involved in an aerial collision.
Slovakian Kiss was on the receiving end in the first half and is less than impressed Goodwin, label- led a Ghost earlier in the season by Adams for the lack of football he plays on the pitch, escaped a charge.
He said: “I don’t want to dwell on it too much as we got the three points against St Mirren.
“But I watched the game on television and I wasn’t happy about the challenge.
“I realised when I watched it again it was really a bit brutal and it was painful.”
Lennon was quick to apologise for his part in the spat yesterday, claiming: “Passions rise high in a game but I would like to take this opportunity to unreservedly apologise to Derek Adams and his staff and more so, my own supporters for their manager getting into a bit of controversy with the officials and being cited.”
Adams would not be drawn on the charges, but is determined his side gets back on track after Tuesday night’s 3-0 home Highland derby defeat to Caley Thistle.
He said: “It was a difficult night in the derby as we had played so well against St Mirren on the Saturday.
“I have watched the game again and there was really nothing in the match.
“Of course it is never nice to lose a derby, but we have to look at the bigger picture.
“We have won one derby this season, we will get on with it, pick ourselves up and look forward to Saturday now.”
The Staggies can jump ahead of visitors Partick Thistle with a second home win in three games at Victoria Park on Saturday.
County, Thistle, St Mirren and Kilmarnock are all vying to avoid the league’s relegation play-off place and Adams added: “It is not nice to be involved in, but it is quite exciting for the neutrals.
“There is no doubt the play-off place has benefited the league. There are four or five clubs involved and every Saturday is a big game.
“There are other sides which can be dragged into it as well.
“Teams will be hoping to go on a run to get out of the bottom six – but it won’t be easy as everyone is cutting each other up.”
