Scottish indie group Belle and Sebastian, won the Outstanding Contribution to Music category at last night’s NME Awards.
They were part of a line-up of acts, from Paul McCartney to Blondie, attending the ceremony at the O2 Academy in Brixton, London.
McCartney collected the one-off honour of Songwriter’s Songwriter, while Blur frontman Damon Albarn was first recipient of the new NME Award For Innovation.
Meanwhile pop icon, Blondie, aka Debbie Harry, played live with her band while accepting this year’s Godlike Genius award.
Shane Meadows, accompanied by wife Louise, was in town to pick up his Best Music Film prize for the Stone Roses documentary Made Of Stone.
This Is England star, Vicky McClure, who presented the award, was one of scores of celebrity guests in attendance.
MTV Europe presenter Laura Whitmore and former Chanel model, Lilah Parsons enjoyed the attention of the media, as did Peaches Geldof.
Providing more glamour, and also enjoying a lengthy conversation backstage with Blondie was Best Solo winner Lily Allen.
Best Live Band were Artic Monkeys, who were nominated in six categories, with the award presented by Jarvis Cocker.
Disclosure’s White Noise, was voted best track, while Fat White Family lifted the Radar award.
John Cooper Clarke presented the Arctic Monkeys’ second award of the evening – AM getting the best album gong.
