With just days to go before the big match, Inverness Caley Thistle’s official Scottish League Cup final anthem is gathering support from thousands of fans.
The tune by Toby Michaels’ Rolling Damned had been listened to more than 4,300 times online by late evening yesterday, and the counter is still rising.
The band’s song, called ICT, is currently available on the Soundcloud music sharing platform and will be available to download on iTunes today.
The lyrics incorporate several references to first team players – along with manager John Hughes and even the Loch Ness Monster.
Front man Toby Michaels, who is planning the trip down for the match against Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Sunday, only started writing the song in the last week of February, giving the band just a few weeks to record the anthem. He said the response had been “absolutely brilliant.
“I have even seen some Ross County fans sharing it,” he added.
Aberdeen fan, Keith Strachan, even commented on it on a social networking site yesterday, saying: “I have to admit it’s not bad. They at least focused on the track and not the video.”
A share of the proceeds from iTunes sales will go to the club’s charity, Inverness Caledonian Thistle Community Development Trust.
Toby Michaels’ Rolling Damned formed in April 2012 and played their debut gig on May 30, 2012, in Mad Hatters, Inverness.
More recently, the band has played at the Belladrum and RockNess music festivals.
