Ross County manager Derek Adams has called on his board to invest in the playing squad if the Staggies are to progress.
Money spent improving the stands and pitch at Victoria Park meant Adams worked with a reduced budget this term.
He hopes to be given extra resources as County aim to become a permanent fixture in the top flight.
Adams said: “My budget was reduced this season from last season and I don’t know what it will be next season.
“It just depends on what money is made available.
“We finished in fifth position last year and made a lot of money for the football club.
“The football club spent a lot of money rebuilding and extending the stands, as well as resurfacing the playing park.
“It all costs money and that is difficult for us.
“A lot of people obviously won’t know the circumstances. It is not cheap to resurface the pitch and it was twice in two years we had to do it.
“I can’t keep on working to what I am working to just now.
“It is a really difficult task just now.
“I work with a reduced backroom staff and with very limited resources in that respect.
“It is really hard working in the top division with the constraints that I am under.
“We can’t keep going on with the budgetary restraints we do have. As far as building for the longer term, it is difficult. We are in a situation where, hopefully, that changes.
“We are on a very sound financial footing from the point of view that we don’t spend a lot of money taking in big players, because we don’t have it.”
Adams added: “What we have been able to do is bring Premiership football to Dingwall, something a lot of people might have felt would never happen.
“Now we need to move on to the next level.
“To do that, we need bigger backing financially – and I am sure there are a lot of people out there who would be willing to do that.
“From a sponsorship point of view, I am sure there are people out there who want to invest, as well as supporters who want to help the football club move on to the next level.
“The next level for us now is pushing higher up the league and not just trying to stay in the division.
“But I knew what we are up against at the start of the season. I didn’t say anything. We just had to get on with it.”
