Craig Gunn spared Elgin from another defeat on the road with an 85th-minute equaliser at Forthbank.
Until then it looked as if Sandy Cunningham’s goal early in the second half would be enough to give Stirling victory.
A crowd of 641 took advantage of the free entry to the game, considerably up on the 378 who turned up for Stirling’s last midweek home match against Berwick back in December.
Paul Kaczan made his return for Elgin after a two-year injury absence but manager Barry Wilson, who had hinted he might be required to play, restricted himself to managing from the sidelines.
Elgin threatened first and Dennis Wyness shot wide early. Allan McKenzie also had an effort but David Crawford in the home goal was untroubled.
Phil Johnston then had a promising break down the wing but, with the Elgin defence struggling to get back to cover, he could not find an accurate cross – much to the home crowd’s frustration.
Shane Sutherland forced Crawford into action, but his low shot was competently dealt with by the goalkeeper.
The game picked up after the interval and within five minutes of the restart, Stirling were ahead.
Jordan White wrong footed the Elgin defence with a reverse pass into the path of Cunningham, who sent the ball beyond Ray Jellema.
White should have scored a second for Stirling midway through the half but his shot from inside the area was just inches too high.
A Chris Smith header was then scrambled off the line in as Elgin had another narrow escape.
But, with five minutes left Gunn met a Paul Harkins corner to sweep the ball home and give Elgin a point.
