The 67-year-old was on a fishing vessel around eight miles from the Stornoway coast when the accident happened, shortly after 10am. Stornoway Coastguard helicopter was dispatched to transport the fisherman back to shore, and returned around 11am. The man has now been taken to the Western Isles Hospital where he is being treated for leg injuries.
