Plan your journey: Severe weather affecting travel in the north

As you can probably guess, it’s another cold day out there. How long until the lighter mornings and distinct lack of frost?

Met Office has issued an amber “be aware” warning for Grampian and the Highlands today – snow, wind, rain and ice are all expected.

Here’s your quick go-to guide of what’s still affected:

Bridges are open, but caution is urged due to snow and high winds.

The B974 is closed in both directions between the High Street junction in Banchory and the B966 junction in Fettercairn.

The A939 is closed between Tomintoul and Cock Bridge alongside the A939 near School Road junction in Braemar and the Glenshee junction in Spittal.

Ferry services are still disrupted.

Roadworks are still in place on St Machar Drive in Tillydrone.

Some schools in the Highlands are still closed.
