Highland League side Turriff United last night sacked manager Mark Simpson.
Simpson had been in sole charge at the Haughs since former co-manager James Duthie left the club in January, and although United defeated champions Cove Rangers 1-0 on Saturday the result ended a run of six straight defeats.
The former Morton, Peterhead, Inverurie Locos and Formartine United central defender has been dismissed less than three months after signing a new two and a half year contract.
Former Deveronvale manager Scott Anderson is the early favourite to take charge in place of Simpson, although Turriff could look to promote former Aberdeen attacker Darren Mackie to the post of player-manager.
