Caley Thistle manager John Hughes has urged his players not to give up on their European dream.
Inverness fell nine points behind third-placed Motherwell after losing away to Dundee United this week but Hughes does not think gaining a Europa League berth is beyond Caley Jags.
Captain Richie Foran did not train yesterday after undergoing a scan on a knee injury and is a doubt to face second bottom St Mirren at Caledonian Stadium this afternoon.
Winger Ben Greenhalgh will not feature after being allowed to join League 1 club Stenhousemuir until the end of the season.
Hughes has issued a rallying call to his squad.
He said: “We will be up against a team fighting to stay in the league. It makes them a really dangerous proposition.
“I have great respect for Danny Lennon and Tommy Craig – Tommy was my mentor when I did my coaching badges.
“St Mirren have some really good footballers.
“I take my hat off to our players for getting to the cup final and into the top six which is a remarkable achievement. There has to be a desire to go and get a European spot for the first time in the club’s history.
“It is within touching distance and it has to inspire the players.”
