Planning bosses are urging councillors to reject plans for four huge turbines near Huntly.
Aberdeenshire Council’s planning service fear the 326ft masts will dominate a nearby house.
Burcote Wind wants to build the turbines on land near Meikleton of Ardonald at Cairnie, which is in a small valley of the Daugh of Cairnborrow ridge.
But planners believe the turbines – which have been reduced from 360ft – would add to the impact of approved turbines at Dornell, Clashindarroch and Hill of Towie.
They will also inform councillors that the overbearing impact of the scheme on one house in particular makes the application unsupportable.
In a report, director of infrastructure services Stephen Archer tells councillors that, although there are three houses close to the application site, two of them are under control of the landowner who has an interest in the scheme.
The other property, Refold, is just 460 yards from the nearest turbine and Mr Archer fears it would be “dominated” by the development.
A total of 50 objections have been lodged; 32 letters of support were also sent.
Mr Archer adds: “The landscape within which the turbines are proposed has a relatively small-scale and rolling nature, therefore meaning structures of this size and scale could be perceived as dominant.”
The committee will consider the plans when it meets in Huntly’s Stewart Hall on Tuesday.
But Fraser Campbell, operations director for Burcote Wind, said the firm believed the scheme would have “minimal impact” on the landscape.
He said there had been good local support, and added: “The development would have no or very limited views from Huntly, Keith, Cairnie, Glass and the Deveron Valley.”
