The Scotland international, who helped Great Britain win silver medals in the 4x400m relay in last month’s world indoor championships in Poland, recorded 47.17sec, while US Olympic triple jump champion Christian Taylor, who is also an accomplished sprinter, won in 45.37.
Bowie also teamed up with Kris Robertson, Greg Louden and Patrick Swan in a Scotland quartet which recorded 3:14.79 in the 4x400m relay, well adrift of the Commonwealth Games qualifying standard of 3:07.00.
Zoey Clark (Aberdeen AAC) produced the third-fastest time of her career when recording 54.63 in a 400m heat won by North Carolina’s Jessica Carr in 54.47.
Dunfermline’s Gemma Nicol recorded 53.49 for third position in her heat.
Scotland’s Andrew Lemoncello (Fife AC) and Callum Hawkins (Kilbarchan AAC, Renfrewshire) secured Commonwealth Games 10,000m qualifying times when competing in the Stanford invitational meeting held in California.
Lemoncello clocked 28:42.68 for an impressive 10th position, while Hawkins was 17th in 28:49.50.
