Aisus hits £1m turnover target

Aisus hits £1m turnover target

Aberdeen-based Aisus Offshore has achieved its ambition to reach turnover in excess of £1million in its first year in business.

The remote inspections specialist undertook a mix of call-off contracts and service agreements in 2013, as well as designing its own proprietary inspection technologies.

Since its launch the company has increased its team from five to eight and has just recruited a further field engineer, who will start next month. By the end of its second year Aisus expects to employ 12.

Martin Thomson, onshore operations director, said: “The Aisus team is both delighted and proud of the company’s success in its first year. We’ve built strong relationships with our clients, whose support we value greatly, and developed new inspection technologies which overcome the challenges posed by the offshore environment.” The company launched its Sirius subsea internal remote ultrasonic inspection tool last summer and has since developed a fluid sampling tool. Next month Aisus will launch its new Aquarius mapping technology, following successful field trials. Aquarius is an internally deployed wall thickness mapping tool, designed to inspect the dry section of caissons and risers, from the platform to sea level.

Mr Thomson said: “The launch of our Aquarius technology in May will provide a valuable extension to our service offering. Sirius has given us the capability to undertake caisson inspections subsea.

“With the addition of Aquarius we will be able to provide enhanced ultrasonic inspection over the entire length of caissons and risers. This will be particularly beneficial in historic problem areas including the splash zone and external guide support locations.”

Aisus said it has already secured contracts worth an estimated £1.5million for its second year and expects this figure will increase as further projects are agreed.

The company also announced that business development director Stuart Lawson, previously a senior inspection co-ordinator at Stork Technical Services, will become the company’s managing director. Mr Lawson said: “I’m very much looking forward to moving into my new role. As managing director I will continue to work closely with our clients to deliver projects, but will have new responsibilities for promoting Aisus within the energy sector and delivering long-term growth.”
