Dons add sweeteners to 16% season-ticket increase

Aberdeen have increased season ticket prices by an average of 16% and announced plans to introduce a loyalty scheme for supporters for next season.

Both season tickets and matchday briefs have increased for the forthcoming campaign.

An adult South Stand season ticket has increased £49 from this season while matchday entry to the South Stand has also increased to £26. Supporters in the Main Stand, however, can save on admission after season tickets were reduced by £11.

In addition the club has withdrawn the free under-12 ticket for children accompanied by an adult. Young supporters can now purchase a season ticket for anywhere in the ground for £49.

A club spokesman said: “Prices have been frozen for the past three seasons and while there has been increases in some cases our pricing remains competitive and value for money.

“The club is trying to get every supporter on the database rather than paying at the gate at 2pm on a Saturday and we believe the 25% savings on walk-up prices represent value for money.

“Once supporters have attended 11 matches, from the 12th game onwards they are saving money. Our ticketing policy for 12 to 18-year-olds has fundamentally changed, too, with savings of 40% in the stadium on offer.”

As part of the new loyalty scheme supporters will be allocated points based on advance ticket purchases which will then be used to determine access to tickets should the club reach a national cup final.

Manager Derek McInnes hopes the club can exceed the 9,000 tickets they sold for this campaign.

He said: “When I arrived at Pittodrie a year ago one of my objectives was to provide a platform that would enable the people of the north-east to fall back in love with their football club. We all recognised a huge team effort would be required to make Aberdeen strong again, both on and off the pitch.

“Through hard work, a determination to perform well in every game, and a will to win, I believe we have gone some way towards achieving that aim.

“We appreciate and understand the expectations that surround this great club and we want to build on the success we have enjoyed this season.”

Early-bird tickets are on sale now with season ticket holders having until May 22 to renew their seat. Tickets go on general sale from June 12.
