An exclusive night-time running event will take off at Inverness Airport this summer.
The Midnight Runway Run will involve competitors of all ages and abilities “taxiing” up and down the brightly-lit landing strip in aid of Clic Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.
The 2.3-mile event at the Dalcross site will take place on a clear runway at midnight on August 30 this year.
“It has never happened before and I am really excited about it,” said Peter Logie, the fundraising manager for the charity.
“Everyone coming along should turn up with their passports otherwise they won’t be able to get on to the runway to see the race.
“We are probably going to have wheelchair athletes as well as the quality of the runway allows for it.”
A similar event was held previously on the runway at Aberdeen Airport at Dyce last September and Mr Logie hopes to build on the numbers for the Inverness run.
Entry is just £20 per person and includes breakfast for each competitor. The age limit for entrants is 16 and over.
Each runner is asked to raise at least £100 in sponsorship for Clic Sargent to support children and young people with cancer in the Highlands.
Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place, and to the top fundraiser overall. All runners will receive a quality commemorative medal, a complimentary running event T-shirt and an early morning breakfast.
