Celtic have announced the surprise departure of assistant manager Johan Mjallby.
The club revealed the Swede would leave Celtic Park at the end of the season to look at new challenges in football.
Mjallby said: “I have enormous affection for Celtic and it is with sadness that the time to leave has arrived. However, I now leave to seek some different opportunities.”
Neil Lennon immediately brought in Mjallby, his former Hoops team-mate, when he was handed the Celtic manager’s job on a temporary basis in March 2010, and their appointments were soon made more long-term. The former Sweden defender previously spent almost six years as a player at Parkhead after being signed by Jozef Venglos in November 1998.
