Pictures from a road camera operated by Traffic Scotland show snow on the A9
The first signs of snow returning to the Highlands have been reported on road cameras along the A9.
Traffic Scotland posted the picture to Twitter confirming the good run of weather in the north of Scotland had officially come to an end.
A yellow warning for snow was issued earlier this week by the Met Office with the wintry conditions expected to worst affect central and northern Scotland.
Commuters have been warned to take care on the roads although this evening and tomorrow morning are when the conditions are expected to get particularly challenging for drivers.
