Campaigners against proposed homes at Culloden have called for donors as they near the deadline for lodging legal action against the development.
The protest group has just 10 days left to file a case with the Court of Session against the 16-house development at Viewhill – close to the historic battlefield.
The planning permission, sought by Inverness Properties, was refused by the Highland Council but approved by the Scottish Government’s reporter on appeal.
The land is owned by city businessman David Sutherland after his company Home Farms bought the wider site from Inverness Properties.
He has said he plans to pursue the housing plans but is willing to discuss the use of the remaining farmland with the National Trust for Scotland, which manages the battlefield.
However opposition to the development has grown with a petition against the development attracting more than 16,000 signatures from around the world.
A number of protests have also been held at Inverness and Holyrood attracting hundreds.
However, the only formal option to prevent the housing going ahead is an appeal with the Court of Session and this is expected to cost in excess of £50,000.
Group spokesman Colin Williamson admitted that raising such a sum in a short time was a challenge.
But he said: “Discussions are still ongoing within the group over an appeal.
“We are not conceding defeat. We will fight until the bitter end even though things are stacked against us.
“However if there is a donor out there who would be interested in contributing or organising fundraising, we would be delighted to hear from them about the help and support they can offer.”
There are also talks ongoing within the Highland Council over the possibility of protecting the rest of the site by introducing tougher restrictions.
