A campaign providing healthy eating tips has been launched in the Western Isles.

NHS Western Isles is promoting the national campaign Eat Better, Feel Better with a series of roadshows throughout the islands.

Dietitians and members of the public offer tips and recipes on healthy, balanced diets.

The next stop is at Adventure Island in Stornoway on Saturday, February 7.

NHS Western Isles nutrition and dietetic manager, Karen France, said: “When it comes to a healthy diet, balance is the key to getting it right.

“This means eating a wide variety of foods in the right proportions, and consuming the right amount of food and drink to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.

“We know that trying to get your family to eat a little healthier can be a real challenge.

“From dealing with fussy eaters and shopping on a budget to planning your meals and finding time to cook, this campaign is about supporting people to introduce easy changes to their eating habits.

“A few small changes can make a big difference.

“The Eat Better Fell Better website contains some great tips, easy meal ideas, recipes and offers that make eating healthier a whole lot easier: www.EatBetterFeelBetter.co.uk and our local roadshow and cookery sessions should help families take simple steps to a healthier lifestyle.”

NHS Western Isles dietitians will also be running some free easy cooking classes in March.
