Crowds gathered, some with tears in their eyes, as they paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II following her death at 96.
The whole country has entered a period of national mourning over the loss of the Queen, for many the only British monarch in their lifetime.
Following her death at Balmoral Castle, her Aberdeenshire estate, on September 8, crowds were quick to gather at royal palaces to share their grief.
Throughout Thursday evening and into Friday, people laid floral tributes outside Balmoral, Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle to mark the Queen’s death.
Government buildings across the country lowered their flag to half mast as a sign of respect of the Queen’s passing.
Books of Condolences have been displayed outside churches and local government buildings across the country for locals to write their message.
People of all ages are sharing in the grief at the loss of the Queen, with some children drawing pictures to give alongside flowers.
Others wrote heartfelt messages and someone placed a Corgi replica, in honour of the Queen’s favourite dog breed.
One person, who laid a floral tribute, left a message saying “God bless, amazing lady.”
Another person wrote: “Thank you for your dedication, service and reign. You have been an inspiration and a calming figure throughout my life. You will be sadly missed.”
