Caley Thistle manager John Hughes admits last weekend’s six-goal thrashing by Celtic was embarrassing and is aiming to make sure his side bounces back against Dundee United in Inverness today.
Caley Jags must win at home to harbour any chance of possible European qualification after their humbling in Glasgow.
Inverness have lost their last two games against the Arabs – 2-1 at Tannadice on Wednesday, March 26, and a 5-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final defeat at home on Sunday, March 9 – but Hughes is not worried about once more taking on Jackie McNamara’s side.
He said: “We are hurting after Celtic. It was really disappointing. We came off our game plan and we felt sorry for ourselves. You then leave yourself wide open to the embarrassment and that is what it turned into.
“In terms of picking them up, we said to them it’s all about raising the tempo in training and they have been different class.
“Hopefully, we can restore a little bit of pride against a Dundee United team coming off a good result against Motherwell (last week’s 5-1 win at Tannadice).
“They will be wanting to cement fourth spot. Jackie McNamara has done a wonderful job as United play some lovely football. They have got a lot of talented youngsters, while they also have a Scottish Cup final to look forward to. We will see if we can take the game to them.”
