Good morning P&J readers. Temperatures are certainly milder today and adverse road conditions are starting to clear.
Yesterday’s icy conditions wreaked havoc on the roads and led to the tragic death of a 29-year-old and frustred hundreds of north east commuters as traffic came to a stand still.
It’s still, however, snowy in the Highlands with the A9 between Drumocther and Thurso and around the Aviemore area.
In the north east, the ice is thawing, but drivers are still urged to take care as some areas remain slippery.
Police have advised on the following road closures:
The B974 between Banchory and Fettercairn
The B976 between Crathie and Gairnshiel
The A939 between Ballater and Corgarff
The B9002 between Lumsden and Cabrach
And here’s a few non-weather realted things to look out for:
The usual congestion in Aberdeen around Holburn Junction, Haudagain Roundabout and the Beach Boulevard.
Long term roadworks are in place at Machar Drive and could cause delays.
Further north, the transportation of a wind turbine between Wick and Harbour and Burn of Whilk will be ongoing until mid-March.
