Aberdeen’s Myles Edwards continues his search for a Commonwealth Games 800m qualifying time when he competes for his English club, Thames Valley Harriers, in the British athletics league First Division meeting at Windsor tomorrow.
The Scottish championship bronze medallist opened his season with a victory in the British Milers Club meeting at Watford on Wednesday evening but his time of 1min 51.14secs is outside the required standard of 1:47.50. The windy conditions counted against fast times and Edwards remains confident of running much quicker before too long.
He said: “I was happy with that as an opener. There’s definitely more in the tank.”
He will compete in the 800m and the 4x400m relay this weekend.
Another Aberdeen athlete, Chuxx Onyia, will also be in action at Windsor, representing his English club, Kent AC. The Scottish triple jump champion is making his first appearance in his specialist event this season with the aim of getting closer to the Glasgow Commonwealth qualifying standard of 16.10m.
