Bertie and Dandy wow crowds at spring fair

Two loveable mini donkeys won the hearts of crowds at a fundraising spring fair in Peterculter at the weekend.

The pair, named Bertie and Dandy, stole the show at the annual event at Easter Anguston farm, which was hosted by social care charity VSA.

The farm provides vocational training for adults with learning difficulties, who all pitched in to help throughout the two day fair.

Some of the service users from the farm grow their own plants, which were also on sale throughout the weekend.

Four alpacas – Angus, Hardy, Sunnyboy and JoJo – also proved popular with visitors, who did not let the wet weather dampen their spirits.

A wide range of entertainment was on offer including live music, craft and gift stalls, bouncy castles, as well as Segway experiences and face painting.

Young carers also took to the stage to perform a special drama performance written by the young people supported by VSA.

Debbie Fotheringham, events co-ordinator for the charity, said the weekend was a fantastic success.

“It has been an amazing time, and despite the weather not being particularly kind to us, a steady flow of visitors came out to support VSA to enjoy our family fun weekend,” she said.

“We have had another successful spring fair raising lots of valuable funds to help VSA care and support local vulnerable individuals and families.”

The fair was free, with all funds raised going to VSA to directly support the local community.
