The man was rescued from a Spanish vessel around 90 miles off the Butt of Lewis after sustaining head injuries. Stornoway Coastguard were notified of the incident at around 10pm last night but were unable to evacuate the injured man. A spokeswoman for the coastguard said that the helicopter had been unable to land because of a high swell and “debris on the boat”. The man has airlifted back to land and will taken for medical treatment in Stornoway.
