The van driver walked away unhurt from the accident after his van was went off the road and into the pole in Burra. The van was left lying upside down at the site of the road – while the electricity cables were also partly knocked over. It is understood that gale force winds may have caused the driver to lose control of his van at around 12.30pm. Engineers switched off the power in the area for more than three hours in parts of the islands. Power was re-established by 4.18pm. Police confirmed that nobody was hurt in the accident.
