The famous Red Arrows will perform their spectacular display over the skies of Stornoway later this year to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the town’s port authority.
It will be the aerobatic team’s first visit to the Western Isles in 14 years and the Stornoway event will be one of 60 shows by the acclaimed squadron in 2015.
Thousands of people are expected to flock to Stornoway Airport to watch the pilots’ mid-air tricks and formations.
A total of nine jets will take part in the display, which will happen on Monday June 29 at 5pm.
Stornoway Port Authority also hopes that cruise liner passengers will also encourage take part in the celebrations.
The Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, is the aerobatics display team of the Royal Air Force based at RAF Scampton.
The team was formed in late 1964 as an all-RAF team, replacing a number of unofficial teams that had been sponsored by RAF commands.
Since then they have wowed crowds all over the world during thousands of performances.
