Distinguished financial expert Justin Urquhart Stewart spoke at a “wealth & wine” event in the north-east recently.
Guests enjoyed the finest wines from around the world while hearing a global economic round-up from Justin at the Aberdeen office of Johnston Carmichael Wealth, who organised the event.
Head of corporate development at Seven Investment Management, Justin is a regular commentator and columnist in the media, and is often called upon to demystify complicated financial jargon.
His presentation in Aberdeen explored key economic regions, focusing on the UK, USA, Europe and the AsiaPacific area, including Australia, as well as emerging markets.
Guests were given the background to a carefully selected wine from each chosen area by sommelier Jonathan Simpkin, before an insight about the respective economy from Justin. Topical issues were covered, including the upcoming UK election.
Justin also highlighted three key facts which should generate confidence in the country: that Britain is the fifth largest economy; eighth largest manufacturer; and 10th largest exporter in the world.
The strengthening US dollar and its impact on the global economy, and the remaining challenges within the Eurozone were also discussed.
Guests also heard from Johnston Carmichael Wealth’s managing director Craig Hendry.
Speaking after the event Mr Hendry said: “We were delighted to welcome Justin to Aberdeen for this event. Our guests enjoyed a night with a difference, tasting some delicious wines while hearing from a key financial expert at a crucial time for the industry.
“Justin provided us all with great insights together with some light entertainment, and the team were able to network with some of our valued clients.”
