An injured fisherman had to be airlifted to hospital this evening. Coastguards in Shetland were alerted by colleagues in France around 6.30pm. A search and rescue helicopter was sent to airlift the fisherman from the French vessel Cap Nord around 7pm. He was taken to Sumburgh Airport and then transferred to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick by ambulance. A coastguard spokeswoman described his injuries as minor.
